When I began my journey in education and leadership, I was fascinated by how people and processes come together to create meaningful change. Today, as a program director and community- based researcher, my work is dedicated to fostering impact in BIPOC communities through health education, policy development, and community liaison roles.

At the University of Houston’s HEALTH Research Institute, I serve as a Community Liaison and Researcher, presenting at forums, lecturing at universities, and facilitating focus groups for NIH- funded projects. My work focuses on health disparities and cancer prevention. I also host the Speak Your Peace podcast, addressing social determinants of health in underrepresented communities.

As Program Director at Open Gate Homeless Ministries, I’ve secured grants to provide essential services like education, job training, and financial assistance for lower-income and homeless populations. Partnering with local organizations and the Mayor’s Office for Homeless Initiatives, I continuously develop new programs to meet community needs.

At the Houston Housing Authority, I led initiatives to support poverty-impacted communities, developing diversity strategies and coordinating disaster recovery efforts post-Hurricane Harvey. My role also involved managing internships, tracking program performance, and ensuring compliance with HUD regulations.

Previously, as Program Director for Catholic Charities’ Rapid Rehousing Program, I managed a $3.1 million grant, housing over 300 homeless families in the first year while advocating for equitable housing access.

I have lectured on positive psychology and leadership at the University of Houston and the University of Texas Health Science Center. My scholarly work focuses on the relationship between neighborhood choice, academic achievement, and health disparities.

My work has been recognized in Marquis Who’s Who in America, where I was awarded the Distinguished Humanitarian Award in 2021. These accomplishments, alongside my membership in professional organizations and numerous leadership roles, continue to drive my commitment to community empowerment and social justice.
